XPower F2925/8 Windy 1380 RPM/V 102g Cased Outrunner
Description
Eliminating the gearbox simplifies the powertrain and reduces the risk of failure. It also results in requiring a smaller (less efficient) propeller. In the past that was a disadvantage as powertrain efficiency was essential for good performance. However with the current state of technology excellent performance can be achieved even with small props, and they do offer several advantages, namely:
- Less stuff hanging out in the wind and less glide drag, so overall better glide performance, especially at speed.
- Usually a higher pitch speed is obtained, allowing very fast transitions to a low level thermal a long way away (if you are one of those god-pilots who know there the lift is).
- Smaller propellers reduce the effects of torque, making the initial climb out easier.

Speedy service which is impeccable.
Motors like them alot in 3 different 5FJ gliders
Excellent quality motor. I am using mine in a Shinto J with a GM 11x6 prop, GM 32mm spinner, Dualsky Summit 60X ESC and 3S 1050mAh 45C LiPo battery. This setup gives good climb rate with about 20% battery capacity remaining after 70 seconds of motor run.
Bought to replace, after previous one stopped working.
Great service.
Bought to replace a geared Hacker in my ancient F5J AVA. Needed a little ballast to maintain correct cg but provides more than enough power on 3s LiPo and 10/6 prop. Highly recommended. Will probably re-use in a more up to date F5J model shortly. Usual speedy, reliable, service from Hyperflight.
Great motor for a Prestige 2PK Storm. Lots of power on a 4s battery.
Always very prompt shipping, and Royal Mail unlike the USPS gives updates all along the way as to the status of my package. I usually takes longer on the US Side to get it than it did getting it out of England.
Looks like a very solid motor fits snugly in a 30mm firewall. Not used the motor in anger yet but hopefully it'll do the job
Great motor, fitted to F5J model glider. Time frame for delivery to Aus was excellent.
I have installed this in an Electra and with a 11x6 GM prop it performs well to my satisfaction. I get a good rate of climb from the slope. It may not have sufficient power for a 30 sec competition climb but it has more than enough for me.
Great motor great for narrow nose and connections to the rear grat service as usual Highly recomend this motor
This motor appears well built and is well suited for my narrow bodied Electra that I bought from a friend. It is supplied with some useful ESC bullet connectors that I needed as the existing ESC bullets were a different size. Some 3mm mounting screws would also be a useful addition to this pack, but I guess differing bulkhead thicknesses may make this impractical. I am still waiting to re-maiden the Electra but I have high hopes for a good climb with this motor.
Works as advertised and delivered in a day.
Very pleased as prefer the small prop folds down neatly causing less wind resistance. Works on higher rpm than old geared motor but gets the model up to height equally as well with less drag.

These motors are brilliant. Have been using them for a while now without a single issue.
Been running them on 4s with a 10x6 cn prop.
They are quiet and have plenty of power.
Excellent product. It's the only one I use in my competition sailplanes. Very reliable.
Fine motor running 11 by 8 CN propeller on a 33 mm yoke and a 2200mah 3s pack gives 60 amps 10 volts 600 watts. Because of the hollow motor shaft chose clamp on offset Reisenauer spinner.
I bought this motor with the help and recommendation from Neil to convert a Vladimir Models Supra into an all round slope & flat field model. The Xpower F2925 gives the Supra a good climb rate and fitted perfectly into the nose of the Supra. As always great support from Neil and his team
Needed a narrow motor for my Vixen 2. The Windy fit perfectly and performs as advertised. 12x6 on 3S pulled 48A and delivered appx. 400W@75% (watt meter).
Fits the 30mm nose, no gearbox, clean rear exiting wiring and it pulls the plane at 60°. I like it!
I am using this in a 1500g f5j model with 11*6 CN prop on a 4s 850mah pack.
I'm entirely satisfied with the performance, I like this motor. Thanks to HyperFlight for a very quick delivery.
Bought the Xpower 2928/8 1380Kv from hyperflight, because I wanted something that wouldn't be a squeeze to get it into a 40mm nose.
I was a little nervous about it being sufficiently powerful, bring only 28mm diameter, but I needn't have worried.
Takes my Arthobby Avatar up at 8.6 m/s on merely a 9.5" x 6 " prop, drawing 33 amps on a 1350 50C 3s battery. Weight 1620 grams. I was impressed. Would no longer consider an inrunner with this beauty available.
One complaint, it didn't come with any mounting bolts, had to buy them separately!
This motor replaces a much heavier motor/gearbox combo in my 3800 Xplorer using 11*6 prop and 4S 850mah power pack. I'm entirely satisfied with the performance. Thanks to HyperFlight for a very quick delivery.
I am using this in a 1550g f5j model with 11*6 GM prop on a 3s 850mah pack.
30 second climb gives 300m.
Puling 40amps.
Lovely and smooth reliable motor.
I purchased this motor for my Ava 3.2m electric. It replaced an older and much, much heavier Hacker B50 motor (!!).
So far I'm extremely pleased with the performance. Excellent power on a 12x8 prop and 3s 1350 mah battery pack. Very quiet as well. Running it through a 45 amp Castle BEC. Plane weighs 50 oz all up and I think this is basically the ideal powerplant for this type of plane.
Cheers to Hyperflight for not only providing incredible service all the way to California USA, but also for the extremely well laid out, informative website that shows prop and battery recommendations for all these motors. It makes life much, much easier!
Great Motor! Great Service from Hyperflight... The combo is A+ I'm using a 4S 650mah pack and a 10x5 GM prop. It pulls my 73oz Infinity (F3J wings on a F5J fuse) vertical. The bench measurements are 546 Watts and 45.2 Amps. I really like this motor.
Great motor, in my Storm 2PK. 11x6 prop 3S 850mah has all the power you need.
Motor fits nicely in my 4m Enigma...a nice, clean set-up!!...Top rung service from Neil!!!!
On the bench draws about 50A on a 11x6 GM prop, 4S 850mAh LiPo. In the air will pull my F5J (1350g) as good as vertical. Shorter than a geared motor (so allowing battery to be further forward), fits easily in a 30mm nose, wires out the rear, no gearbox maintenance, smaller prop that geared motor so lower drag when gliding, and all at a fraction of the price of a geared motor. I’m very pleased with mine and assuming it lasts will not be going back to geared motors.

The motor is installed in a:
Windy Maxa at 2.23kg, 78.6 ounces all up,
Battery is a 4S, I'm running two types an 850mAh (Daves Toys Australia) and 900mAh black Hyperion.
11 x 7 Vladimers prop (A beautiful-looking propellor).
60 Amp speed controller. (set it to soft start)
Goes very well in both level and climbing flight, I am really impressed. It pulls about 53 amps in level flight based on battery recharge calculation ignoring losses and climbs at 10/14m/s.
A beautifully manufactured quality motor. I have only so far performed static testing on it but from these figures alone I think this will be a cracking F5J motor exhibiting excellent dash time and rate of climb in windy conditions where ballast will be used.
How its possible to design/manufacture such a small powerful in-runner motor is impressive. My static tests on 4S 850mah 80C battery with a 11x6 GM prop showed it giving 63A @985 Watts with min pack voltage of 13.4v. 60A is the recommended maximum continuous current draw for this motor but in actual flight this is likely to drop to around 50-55A with this battery/prop combination. Wont know for sure till I flight test it but experience tells me that in flight it should be under the 60A mark meaning that the recommended prop of11x6GM is probably about right. If you want a little more head room use a 10x6 or a10x5 GM Prop.
