30mm GM F5J Spinner (Requires Collet)
Description
The GM F5J Carbon 30mm Spinner Assembly does not include the collet to attach the assembly to the motor or gearbox output shaft. This must be purchased separately, according to the diameter of the output shaft.
Benefits of the GM F5J Carbon 30mm Spinner Assembly include:
- The accurately CNC machined 7075 aluminium yoke is generously proportioned, for maximum safety and power handling.
- The straight yoke design reduces the force on the root of the prop blades, and is safer for high power/high RPM setups.
- Supplied with a beautiful moulded carbon spinner cone.
- Split collet mounting reduced vibration and avoids the need for flats on the motor shaft.
- By switching collets it can be used on most powertrains.
See the last two photos to see how well the spinner works, especially when fitted with GM pro blades, and how closely the blades fold to the fuselage on this Infinity F5J model. Also please read this great customer review to see how well people like these spinners in real life.
To fit the folding propeller blades unscrew the retaining/clamping bolt completely with a 3mm Allen key (not included). Remove the nosecone, easing it over the yoke, then unscrew the threaded hinge pins, and fit prop blades. If they don't hinge freely it is okay to remove a small amount of material from the blade root. Finally reassemble the spinner and secure the head of the bolt with Loctite Threadlocker Blue 242.
To fit the prop/spinner assembly to the gearbox output shaft (or to the motor shaft in direct drive installations) unscrew the retaining/clamping bolt a few turns with a 3mm Allen key (not included). This will loosen the collet and allow it to slide over the shaft. Then tighten the retaining/clamping bolt until the prop assembly is firmly attached. Up to 4.5 Nm of torque can be safely used when tightening the Allen key.

After several discussions with a few club members regarding folding propeller and power systems, I sold the CN spinner and blade I had originally planned for my Nan Explorer 3 (that I got from Neil last fall) and switched over to the GM spinner and blades. I just completed my install of the motor and metal motor mount on my E3 and I could not be more pleased with the results. My E3 (3.8 V tail) will tip the scales at about 51-52 oz. and my first power test resulting 375 watts at 34 amps (3S battery) on a GM 11x6. For my style of flying (read that as old age) this combination will probably be just perfect for me and I am looking forward to flying this beautiful sailplane.
From placing order to front door in less than 24 hours. That's great
Product is great! Excellent advice / excellent delicious very service - as usual
GM spinners are great! I like them better than any other. Hyperflight is the best! Good selection, good price and fast service.
Have to say, I am a big fan of GMB spinners/collets. Much prefer them to the grub screw type. The quality of GMB products is second to none, would recommend, though you do pay a premium. I know I keep saying this, but I have always found the service from Neil first class.
I agree with the other reviewers, this is a quality unit. Several things stand out, the collet gets very good "purchase" on the shaft with only moderate tightening of the screw, also the body of the spinner is accurately round & very stiff. I'm impressed
Highest quality product, Fast delivery. You wont find better. A must have Item for someone who wants the best.
