Vortex 4 1.5m DLG
Description
Like the Vortex 3 the build quality is excellent and the engineering is very impressive. Apart from of course perfectly molded carbon parts the kit comes with a very nicely engineered system for automatic connection of the aileron controls when the wing is attached. This is a different level of convenience and functionality to other DLGs we sell.
Supplied with a complete accessory bag including all the items necessary to complete the model. Two servo trays are included, for KST X08 and MKS DS65K servos.
The MKS servo tray cutout is 22mm x 17mm, making it suitable for 4 DS65K servos. To fit 4 DS75K servos in the MKS tray 0.5 mm needs to be trimmed from each edge of both cutouts.
The KST servo tray cutout is 23.5mm x 16mm, making it suitable for 4 X08 servos or A08 servos. The cutouts are too large for the X06.
Note, the top mounting surface on both trays is flat, so servo installation may require thin spacers to raise the 2 front servos so that the tail strings clear the aileron pushrods.
We are stocking the two piece wing version (2pw) with a bottom mounted tailplane, in various layups.

I am very glad I upgraded to the V4 from my Vortex 3. While the V3 flew really well the Vortex 4 is a class above. My launches are higher, thermals are easier to stay in, and I love the crow brakes! The V4 holds energy very well and glides great. The crow brakes don't have any pitch down tendencies. They just slow the V4 down straight with full control of your ailerons. This is a beautiful plane that flies better than it looks.
Shipping was fast as usual, and I will be buying from Neil again when I get into f3 res.

Finally overcame my fear of working on solid core airframes! After a meticulous build, the first chuck was straight as an arrow. Six KST X06 servos and 239g AUW. Unreal...
Quality is next level, although I'd prefer the flap servos in the wing, and save the weight of the pushrods and alloy drive forks...
Beautiful model . As usual excellent service from Neil at Hyperflight. Looking forward to flying it
Great finishing quality and super easy to build. Multiple servo selection can fit 4 JR385s in pot (the best servo in personal view) and the pot is not too large like previous generation.
Will be more satisfied if DSComposites provides 2 servo wing for option.
I've been learning DLG for the past year and love, and decided it was time to go high end and chose the Vortex 4 for the 4 servo wing as I often have to fly in not so ideal conditions. Went for the strong layup for the same reason. Obsoletely beautiful construction and design. Looking forward to building this for 2023! Great service from Neil. Love the strong boxes he uses for safe delivery.
I've been eye-balling this ship since it came out...I have the Yoda which has seperate flaps & ailerons and it is a fantastic flyer so I'm sure this "4" will be great also...I capitalized on the orange feather livery, got here in Orange County, CA in 5 days, we tore open the box like a snot-nosed kid at Christmas and there it was....a beautiful DLG ship!!!
