Genteel Lady 1.2m
Description
So what is different? Apart from the beautifully cut and perfectly fitting balsa parts, the projected wing span is just 1200 mm (47"). The wing uses a modern AG25 airfoil section for a greatly improved glide angle and wider speed range. Also the wing loading is much lower, making this a very light air model that will stay up in the lightest of lift.
6mm x 3mm Basswood spars are utilised top and bottom to take the strain of bungee launches and rough handling by beginners.

As I write, I am part-way through the build. The plain box arrived very promptly from HyperFlight, and contained a full kit of hardware and nicely laser-cut woodwork.
Disappointingly there is no profile jig for the leading edge, or even a picture of what one should look like - I will attempt to make my own. There’s a good single-sheet full-size paper plan showing the wing and tail construction, but for all other build information you have to visit the Angelwings website, which contains an excellent illustrated guide and a link to Nick Chitty’s instructional YouTube videos.
I found the tail surfaces and fuselage went together very quickly, but I have hit a couple of snags with the wing. Firstly the mainspars are 3.2 mm thick (1/8”) but the corresponding notches in the ribs are only 3mm. So all 42 rib notches have to be modified, which takes ages and is difficult to do accurately. Secondly, the online instructions suggest pinning the mainspar and trailing edge flat on the plan, but this would make it impossible to achieve the required droop at the trailing edge. Apparently most builders ignore this, but, being a bit anal, I will build a jig of some sort.
Everything else is looking good, but I may add leading edge sub-ribs and find an alternative to the retro rubber-band wing mount. I’m proposing to fit a small electric motor and Sugarwing folding prop, also supplied by HyperFlight.

The Genteel Lady flies amazing and is now my favorite mini glider. The modern wing provides good speed and penetration but still manages to thermal very well.
The Sunnysky R1106 5500 RPM motor fits nicely and provides more than enough thrust when coupled with a Graupner CAM 4.7x2.3" folding prop.
Service and delivery from Hyper flight is very good. The Genteel Lady 1.2m was good to build the kit is 5 star and it flies really nice.
Absolutely beautiful kit. Laser cutting perfection. Highly recommend. Plane is definitely easy to construct and complete! Hyperflight also gets an A+ for super fast shipping to the USA!
Excellent service brilliant products superfast delivery
Maybe I didn't read it correctly, but I don't know if this model is Genteel or Gentile Lady because the assembly drawing shows something different and the decal shows something different. In my case, the element: 2.5mm Balsa lower hatch base was incorrectly cut with a laser... When building the model, you can use YT and PDF of the Angelwing Designs construction file to help you build the model. I was looking for just such a thermal glider, with a wing for slow speeds without much wind, rather silent flights. Although, as you can see on YT, even the sea breeze does not bother this sub250g drone. I am preparing to use a pylon on top of the wing center wing with an electric small motor. I recommend it for flights in small spaces without having to maintain the A1/A3 category.
